Technology

Slack is a collaboration hub that allow you and your team to communicate instantly and get things done. It provides you the function of email, text messaging, and instant messaging and keep all those communication style in one app. Both of my e-learning courses, ETEC 648 and ETEC 501, have adopted this platform. I can submit my course project to Slack and get feedback quickly from different experts in the field. Peers can coordinate projects with others in real time. Students are encourage to create their own channel and introduce different e-learning platform to others or bring up any other interesting topics that they want to share..

Many notable Silicon Valley companies use Slack: LinkedIn, Salesforce, Google, Intuit, PayPal, eBay, Uber......

Audacity is a open-sourced digital editor and recording application software. It can be used to perform a number of audio editing and recording tasks such as making ringtones, mixing stero tracks, transferring tapes and records to computer or CD, splitting recordings into separate tracks and more. I used it during my internship to complete the voice recording of some language courses.

SketchUp is a 3D modeling computer program which allow you to create your own building with a wide range of drawing application, such as interior design and landscape architecture. I used this program in my ETEC676D course to create my own 3D house model. I started with just a simple floor plan. The process of creating this house is not easy, but meaningful. I think the skills that I learned from this course and project can help my further exploration of the virtual world.

Feel free to take a look at the virtual tour of my little house.
